to the Fortune Cookie Files

July 27, 2009

You tell me if you don't find this strange.
A few days ago my fortune cookie message read:

" This year your highest priority
will be your family. "

And today... it did again.

I almost grabbed another fortune cookie,
and yet rather than do that - perhaps there is more to be said.

Now, what's funny is that all I can think of is
I wonder how many people think that they should put thought
into or give any credence to what a fortune cookie says.
(Not that fortune cookies can talk, because we all know they have no lips)

Well, between you, me and the fencepost -
I do think about the fortunes I read in these cookies.
Of all the fortune cookies in the world, and all the messages
that could be contained within them; I received this one.
The same has been true of every fortune cookie I have had.
So, as someone who happens to believe
that things may just happen for a reason;
fortune cookies intrigue me.

I have 2 fortune cookies left in my bag.
If one of them says;
"You will have an unexpected surprise bring you great joy today"
you'd better believe that I am going to be on the lookout for it !
(incidently, aren't all surprises unexpected?)

I am going to be expecting something good to happen for sure.

And you know what ?
I can almost guarantee you that it will.

Why?

Because I am expecting it, looking for it, and believing it will happen.

OK, if you don't hear anything else;
let me reiterate that.

I will find that something good
because I am expecting to,
believing that it will,
and looking for it.

I think every one of you should try this little experiment.
Find a piece of paper about a half an inch wide and 2 inches long.
Now write this on it:

"You will have an unexpected surprise bring you great joy today"

Now go through the rest of the day as if was true;
expect that it will and act accordingly with that belief.

And tell me your stories !
